Fluffy Sourdough Challah

Ingredients

  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (ya pani)
  • 1/3 cup sugar ya honey
  • eggs
  • 1/4 cup oil (vegetable oil ya olive oil)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 ½ – 4 cups all-purpose flour

Egg wash ke liye

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk

Step-by-Step Method

 Dough banaye
Ek bowl me sourdough starter, warm milk, sugar, eggs aur oil add kar ke achi tarah mix kar lein.

 Dry ingredients add karein
Ab salt aur flour thora thora add karte hue soft dough bana lein.

 Kneading
Dough ko 8–10 minutes tak knead karein jab tak smooth aur elastic na ho jaye.

 First Rise (Fermentation)
Dough ko bowl me rakh kar cover kar dein aur 6–8 ghante ya overnight room temperature par rise hone dein. Dough double ho jaye ga.

 Shape karein
Dough ko 3 ya 4 equal parts me divide karein. Har piece ko rope ki shape dein aur braid bana lein (challah style).

 Second Rise
Braid ko baking tray par rakh kar 1–2 ghante aur rest karne dein taake phir se thora rise ho jaye.

 Egg Wash
Egg aur milk mix kar ke challah ke upar brush karein. Chahein to sesame seeds ya poppy seeds bhi sprinkle kar sakte hain.

 Bake karein
Oven ko 180°C (350°F) par preheat karein.
Challah ko 25–30 minutes bake karein jab tak golden brown na ho jaye.

Result:
Soft, fluffy aur slightly sweet sourdough challah jo breakfast, French toast ya butter aur jam ke sath perfect lagti hai.
